Short-Term Research Grants at KU Leuven 2025

KU Leuven is offering short-term research grants to researchers and alumni from selected groups of countries. The applicants are granted a research stay of a maximum of 90 days. 

Eligibility Criteria of the Grant:

• Applicants must have completed their PhD studies.
• Applicants must be nationals and residents of one of the eligible countries on the list.
• Applicants must be employed by an institution located in the listed countries.
• Applicants must be invited and supported by a KU Leuven supervisor who is a senior staff member (ZAP).
• Applicants under the age of fifty are given first consideration.

Application Process:

• Interested candidates must submit an online application.
• The candidates must upload the following documents:
  • A signed letter of invitation from a KU Leuven professor.
  • Most recent CV.
  • A copy of the passport.
  • A copy of the PhD certificate.

Value of the Research Grant:

• The successful applicants can avail of the following benefits.
  • A monthly allowance of EUR 1,500.
  • EUR 200 for indirect travel costs.
  • Insurance coverage.
  • Accommodation will be provided but must be covered by the monthly allowance.
  • An air ticket.
