FutureNow Scholarships at University of Southern Queensland

With support from the NSW Government, ANSTO offers FutureNow and FutureNow Plus scholarships to graduates and early career researchers working on industry-focused projects in health, defence, aerospace engineering, and nuclear technologies. A minimum of five scholarships are available. Successful candidates work under leading scientists and gain access to ANSTO’s state-of-the-art facilities to develop practical solutions to real-world challenges.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. The applicant must hold a relevant bachelor’s degree or higher (or be undertaking a higher degree by research) within five years of graduation, and be available to conduct research for at least six months at an ANSTO facility.
2. The applicant, if an Australian or New Zealand citizen, must be enrolled at a university that is a member of the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering (AINSE).
3. The applicant must meet probity requirements, which may include national security, police, or other checks, and be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.

Selection Criteria:

1. Academic merit and relevant research experience, and the ability to undertake industry-focused projects in health, defence, aerospace, or nuclear technologies.
2. Strong communication skills, ability to work in teams, and alignment of research interests with the scholarship objectives.

Application Process: Submit an application via the ANSTO FutureNow portal, including a CV, research statement, academic transcripts, and referee details; shortlisted applicants may undergo interviews and probity/security checks.

Award:  A stipend or salary top-ups of AUD 7,500, as well as up to AUD 10,000 for approved research, conferences and travel.
