SAMRC Postgraduate Research Associate Programme 2024

The purpose of the program is to contribute towards the SAMRC's transformation agenda to increase the representation of quality postgraduate scientists from designated groups and grow the number of Ph.D. candidates from Historically Disadvantaged Institutions (HDIs).

Eligibility for the SAMRC Scholarship Program :

• Applicants must be South African Citizens or permanent residents.
• Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time PhD program at a South African University
• Applicants must have both project and ethics approval (where applicable) for the PhD research project.
• Applicants' research projects must be aligned with the SAMRC's research priorities.
• Applicants must be receiving supervisory support from an SAMRC intramural unit, SAMRC extramural unit, or SAMRC research center.

Application Process:

All eligible candidates must apply online to be considered for the scholarship. The application should include the following components:

• Completed online application.
• Uploading of all the supporting documents.
• SAMRC research supervisor or proposed supervisor must complete the research supervisor’s commitment form and apply.

Benefits:

• PhD: R 200,000 (tuition fees and stipend)
• Master: R 160,000 (tuition fees and stipend)
