The University of New Mexico's Inclusive Excellence Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholars Program (IEPVSP) offers assistance for up to three postdoctoral fellows, research associates, or visiting scholar roles aimed at promoting diversity and equal opportunity at the Albuquerque central campus.
Eligibility Criteria of the Fellowship:
Applicants Must:
- Be nominated by a tenure-granting academic unit at the UNM central campus.
- Have completed a Ph.D. or terminal degree within the last 3 years (must have obtained the degree by July 1, 2026).
- Demonstrate promise for a future tenure-track appointment at UNM.
- Be in residence full-time for the duration of the fellowship.
- FF Postdoctoral Fellows and Visiting Scholars are encouraged to teach a maximum of one course per year (at the discretion of the department).
- Previous DEI Support: Individuals who have received previous DEI support (postdocs/graduate fellows) do not qualify.
Application Process:
- Interested candidates must submit an online application along with the following documents:
- Most recent CV.
- Planned scholarly activities during the IE postdoc/visiting scholar appointment.
- The letter of interest must be addressed to the department chair.
- The letter of application to a recent faculty search may be submitted in place of a letter of interest.
- Applicants' statement explaining their past, current, and potential contributions to justice, equity, accessibility, diversity, and inclusion (JEADI) through research, teaching, and/or service.
- Three letters of reference.
Value of the Award:
- Salary: $50,000 for 12 months (provided by DEI). Departments cover fringe benefits and additional salary to meet UNM minimums and ensure competitiveness.
- Research Funds: $2,000 one-time allocation, with possible additional departmental funding.
- Immigration Support: The academic unit is responsible for immigration-related expenses and legal assistance.
